About the Art of Style: Editor & Fashion Blogger
My background as a wardrobe mistress and costume maker in New York and Hollywood has given me a backstage viewpoint and deep knowledge of fashion. I studied Costume Design and worked in film, television, theater, music and commercials as a stylist.
This gives me a sense of history and the deep knowledge of fashion, antiques, vintage art and culture; this continues to inform my points of view. Living and working in Hollywood, with its unique history of glamour influences my work as a writer and creative; I continue to live and work in both Paris and Los Angeles. The intersection of fashion and art, culture and its influences is more important than ever in a world where a message is shared in 134 characters.
As a 15 year old girl I peered into the windows of fashion boutiques on the Left Bank in Paris where I grew up and there were many to see: Yves Saint Laurent, Sonia Rykiel, Gaultier and more in the revolutionary 1970s and 1980s.
A strong story and how we connect to it will never go away and perhaps we need that now more than ever. I believe in Drama, Character, Stories and Personality. Sometimes all of these things appear on the runway in that magical moment where a designer brings it all together.
I love that moment, and live for that true “art of style”.
