Snapdragons: beautiful, beguiling…

Interiors become perfection with the addition of flowers.  As a child, I always was fascinated by the name, “Snapdragon” and I would try to imagine fierce miniature faces of these creatures and their jaws opening wide to breath some kind of fire.

I purchased snapdragons at the market today.  They were marked down.  Why?  Because the stems curved at crazy angles; because they didn’t conform and behave themselves.

I think I’m rather like these snapdragons.  Welcome, friends… This is a conformity-free zone.

So nostalgic, these twisting snapdragons evoke simpler times, rustic concepts: countryside walks, the air buzzing with insects; farmhouses with lacy wood trim; childhood, summer warmth on your face, in your heart; eternal sunshine; the unmediated, the unburdened.
