Angeleno Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Amanda Friedman hosted a fashion trends show to launch the spring issue. It was a great way to shop the exclusives at the Santa Monica Bloomingdales considered the West Coast Flagship. Santa Monica is almost always sunny, though it does get cool at night when the Pacific fog rolls in; you have to include a jacket, sweater or coat to top your Spring/Summer looks. I attended the Spring 2015 Collections in Paris this past year and so the trends shown at BLOOMINGDALES were an echo of the runways around the world. Plaids mixed with bright colors and floral prints to suit every style were shown with a selection of great sandals and clutch handbags. Envelope bags are on everyone’s fashion list along with the new elegant wedge sandal. The 1970s Extreme Platforms have returned, but if you have never worn them before, you’re in for it; they are not comfortable so the simple elegant wedges work. A definite BOHO luxe 70’s spin to all the shapes has influenced the runways and what I can say for sure, is that Los Angeles is the place. The beach and canyon lifestyles have been a huge influence on fashion in the past two years. The trends seem to evoke a kinder friendlier time when the music and sunny skies promised freedom and love for all. But don’t let a rosy outlook fool you into thinking it is all relaxed and mellow here; the LA scene is also a town of “influencers” in both tech, fashion, music, media, architecture, cuisine, and art with a host of “FIRSTS” that later become part of the nationwide experience born right here. Brave souls come here to start things, create, share and disrupt the status quo. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Here are some shots of both Paris trends and also a few looks from the show.
Enjoy!
